Date of project

2026

Length of project

6 weeks

"From the first visit through to the final build, everything was handled professionally and with real attention to detail. Communication was clear the whole way through, and the team were always respectful of our home and space. The quality of the work speaks for itself — it’s completely transformed how we use our garden."

Morgan James

Overview

This project involved a full garden transformation, turning a tired, uneven outdoor space into a clean, structured environment designed for modern living. The existing garden lacked usable zones, suffered from poor drainage, and felt disconnected from the house.

Our approach focused on creating a cohesive layout that balanced hard landscaping with softer planting, while improving flow, functionality, and long-term durability. By introducing defined areas for seating, planting, and movement, the space now feels purposeful and easy to use throughout the year.

The combination of a bespoke timber pergola, porcelain patio, and composite fencing gives the garden a contemporary finish without sacrificing warmth or character.

The brief

The client wanted a complete redesign that would make the garden more usable for both everyday living and hosting. They were looking for a space that felt modern and low maintenance, but not overly minimal or stark.

Key requirements included a covered seating area for shade and shelter, a durable patio for dining, and improved privacy from neighbouring properties. The client also wanted planting that would soften the space without creating ongoing upkeep, favouring evergreen structure with seasonal highlights.

Another priority was ensuring the garden worked as a natural extension of the home, with a layout that felt intuitive and well-connected rather than segmented or cluttered. The end result needed to be practical, visually balanced, and built to last with minimal ongoing maintenance.

What we delivered

Timber Pergola Installation

We designed and built a bespoke wooden pergola to create a defined seating area. Positioned to maximise sunlight while offering partial shade, it acts as the focal point of the garden.

Slabbed Patio Area

A new porcelain slab patio was installed to provide a durable, level surface for dining and entertaining. The layout was designed to flow naturally from the house into the garden.

Composite Fencing

The existing timber fencing was removed and replaced with high-quality composite fencing to improve both durability and overall appearance. Composite was chosen for its long lifespan, resistance to weathering, and minimal maintenance requirements, making it a practical solution for a modern garden.

The new fencing provides a clean, consistent backdrop that enhances the overall design while increasing privacy and security. The neutral tones were selected to complement the patio and planting, helping tie the different elements of the garden together. Careful alignment and installation ensure a seamless finish that will retain its appearance over time without the need for regular treatment or repainting.

Landscaping and Planting

Structured planting beds were installed to frame the space and add depth, using a considered mix of evergreen shrubs for year-round structure and low-maintenance seasonal plants for variation in colour and texture. The planting scheme was designed to be visually appealing without becoming overgrown or difficult to manage.

By combining practical groundworks with thoughtful planting, the garden now feels established, balanced, and easy to maintain, while still offering interest throughout the seasons.

"We were nervous about the cost, but they explained everything clearly and stuck to the budget. The garden is now the heart of our home and the talk of our neighbours."

Morgan James

The result

The finished space is clean, modern, and highly functional. The pergola creates a strong visual anchor, while the patio and planting bring balance and usability to the garden. The client now has a low-maintenance outdoor space that works for both everyday use and social occasions.
