Set across three acres of open countryside, this ambitious project combined landscaping, outdoor living, wildlife features, and recreational spaces to create a garden that could be enjoyed by the whole family. With new patios, composite decking, a bespoke gazebo, bird aviaries, picnic areas, planting, and extensive fencing, the result is a beautiful and functional outdoor environment that makes the most of its impressive surroundings.
Overview
Large gardens present unique opportunities and challenges. While the space offered incredible potential, the existing grounds lacked structure and clear destinations, making much of the garden feel underutilised.
Our goal was to create a series of connected spaces that encouraged exploration while maintaining the natural character of the landscape. By introducing defined activity areas, relaxing seating spaces, and wildlife-focused features, we transformed the property into a garden that offers something different around every corner.
The finished design balances practical outdoor living with the beauty of the surrounding countryside, creating a space that feels both expansive and welcoming.
The brief
The client wanted to unlock the full potential of their three-acre property and create a garden that could be enjoyed by family, friends, and visitors throughout the year.
They envisioned multiple destinations across the site, including areas for outdoor dining, relaxing, wildlife appreciation, and social gatherings. Bird aviaries were an important feature, while additional seating and picnic areas would allow people to enjoy different viewpoints throughout the grounds.
The challenge was creating cohesion across such a large site, ensuring each feature felt connected as part of a wider landscape while preserving the open and natural feel of the property.
What we delivered
Garden design
A comprehensive masterplan was developed to organise the large site into a series of connected zones. Careful consideration was given to circulation routes, sightlines, and how different areas would be experienced throughout the seasons.
The design created a natural flow between activity spaces, wildlife features, and quieter areas for relaxation, helping visitors discover new aspects of the garden as they move through it.
Gazebo construction
A bespoke gazebo was constructed as a central focal point within the garden.
Positioned to take advantage of views across the grounds, it provides a sheltered gathering space that can be enjoyed in all seasons. The structure adds character and creates a destination within the wider landscape.
Composite decking
Premium composite decking was installed to create additional seating and viewing areas throughout the property.
The low-maintenance material offers excellent durability while complementing the natural surroundings. The decking provides comfortable spaces to relax and appreciate different aspects of the garden.
Bird aviaries
Purpose-built bird aviaries were designed and installed to provide secure, attractive habitats while becoming a key feature within the overall garden design.
Carefully integrated into the landscape, the aviaries create opportunities for wildlife appreciation while contributing to the unique character of the property.
Working on a garden of this scale gave us the opportunity to create something truly special. Seeing the various spaces come together across three acres was incredibly rewarding for the entire team.
The result
The completed project has transformed an expansive but underutilised site into a thriving outdoor environment filled with purpose, character, and variety.
The combination of outdoor living spaces, wildlife features, recreational areas, and extensive planting creates a garden that offers something for everyone. Despite its scale, the landscape feels cohesive and thoughtfully designed, with each destination naturally leading to the next.
The result is a beautiful countryside garden that maximises every acre while preserving the sense of space and tranquillity that makes the property so special.
